2024 Battle of Waterloo Cancelled

With a heavy heart, on behalf of the Epic team, we are letting you know that Battle of Waterloo, scheduled for August 4, 2024 is canceled due to construction at Big Portage Lake State Park which is the start/finish area and legs 1 & 10 of the race.
We have explored other options and have concluded that we cannot provide the quality experience that you deserve at an alternate location.
We understand the disappointment and inconvenience this decision may cause. Please know that it was made after careful consideration and with the best interests of everyone involved in mind.
The park improvements will be complete by the end of the year and BOW 2025 will go on as planned!

Battle of Waterloo

Featured in Triathlete Magazine as a bucket list tri, Battle of Waterloo is a unique adventure triathlon with 10 legs totaling 42 miles that traverse the sprawling Waterloo Recreation Area, one of the most rugged and beautiful parks in the Midwest. You’ll bike paved remote roads, run winding dirt lanes, climb steep trails, and swim across three wilderness lakes… carrying your shoes and swim gear with you the entire time. Don’t have that much time? Try Half the Battle: 6 legs, 18 miles of the same terrain.

Athlete Testimonial:

"...The level of difficulty was perfect, the course was amazing and I now know a lot more of SE Michigan now than I did before. I still can't believe how much I enjoyed the swims. Some of it might have been the mist hanging on the water, but all three lakes were breathtakingly beautiful. That's a great way to break up a half marathon. And I'd have to say Mill Lake was my favorite. Weeds didn't seem to be a problem and it was so peaceful and quiet on the water..."
